Terms and Conditions

The competition will run on hellomagazine.com until noon on Friday 27th June 2008.

Closing date for entries is noon on Friday 27th June 2008.

Unless otherwise stated, the competition is open to all residents of the UK aged between 18 and 30, except employees of HELLO! Magazine Ltd (HML), hellomagazine.com (HMC), Getty Images Gallery (GIG) and Nikon UK (NUK) and their associated, affiliated or subsidiary companies, and their families, agents, or anyone connected with this competition, including the third party promotional partners. Entries from other locations outside the UK will be considered for publication in HML or on HMC, but will not be eligible for prizes.

Entry is limited to three (3) pictures per category. However, all categories can be entered. If a contestant tries to upload a second entry in the same category, the second entry will be taken as a replacement of the first. Multiple entries will lead to disqualification. There will be one winner and one runner-up selected for each category, in addition to one overall winner and one overall runner-up.

Any breach of these competition rules by an entrant will void their entry.

The winner is responsible for ensuring they are able to accept the prize as set out and in accordance with these terms and conditions, in the event they are unable to do so then HML reserves the right to reselect a winner. HML reserves the right to publish entries other than the winning entries, and publication does not necessarily mean that the entrant has won a prize.

Each photograph should be accompanied by an explanation detailing when, where and why the photograph was taken in no more than 50 words.

Entry is free but entrants should be aware that they may be subject to local call charges depending on their own individual arrangements for Internet access.

An eligible entrant must be an individual and must submit an entry in the form required by HML under this promotion.

HML takes no responsibility for any entries that are lost, delayed, illegible, corrupted, damaged, incomplete or otherwise invalid.

By entering, all eligible entrants agree to abide by each and all these terms and conditions. HML reserves the right, with or without cause, to exclude entrants and withhold prizes for violating any of these terms and conditions. HML reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions. Any amendments will be published on HMC. Entries may be rejected at the sole discretion of the judges including for reasons of obscenity, defamation or invasion of privacy.

Each entrant may submit their entries in jpeg format of no more than 5 mb.

Entrants represent and warrant that they are not professional photographers and that their entry does not infringe the privacy rights, copyright or any other rights of any person. Each entrant warrants that the entry is an original work of the photographer and that it has not been previously published. Obscene or inappropriate photographs will not be accepted and HML reserves the right to reject any photographs for any reason. Prior to submitting a photograph of any identifiable individual, entrants should advise any subjects within the entry of the purpose of the submission and that their photograph may be published by HML (including in HELLO! magazine or on HMC) or exhibited at GIG, and entrants should obtain the consent of such subjects in writing. In the event that the subject is a minor, written consent of a parent or guardian must be secured. Each entrant agrees to indemnify HML for any loss, damages, costs, expenses and any liability howsoever arising out of any breach of any warranty under this clause m.

Entries will not be returned and no pictures will be retained beyond Friday 31st October when all entries will be destroyed.

Completion and submission of a registration page at hellomagazine.com will be deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions and the terms and conditions of HMC.

An acknowledgment will be sent to the contestant confirming the categories he/she entered the pictures for.

When collecting your personal data, HML will comply with the Data Protection Act 1998. In particular all information submitted will only be used and stored by HML, GIG and NUK for the purpose of this competition and marketing activities to which the entrant has provided consent and will not be submitted to any third party.

The winner will be notified by email within twenty one (21) days of the closing date. All reasonable endeavours will be made to contact the winner during this time. If a winner cannot be contacted or is not available, HML reserves the right to choose another winner.

There are two main prizes (one winner and one runner-up) and two prizes for each category. The winner will be the entrant whose photograph, in the opinion and at the sole discretion of the judges, demonstrates the greatest flair, technique and originality.

The overall winner will be commissioned to do a photo shoot to be published in HML. The runner-up will work with a leading Getty Images photographer (as yet to be decided) on a photo shoot. Each category winner and runner-up will receive photographic equipment from NUK at their discretion.

There is no cash or other alternative to the prize stated and the prize is not transferable and no part or parts of the prize may be substituted for other benefits, items or additions.

Each winner may be required to submit valid identification before receiving their prize.

The judge's decision is final and binding on the entrants. No correspondence will be entered into.

The judges reserve the right not to select any winner(s) if none or an insufficient number of the entries are deemed to be of high enough quality for publication in HML.

HML will not be liable for technical, hardware, or software failures of any kind or lost or unavailable network connections which may limit or prohibit an eligible entrant's ability to participate in the competition.

Entrants will retain copyright in their submitted entries; however, by entering, all entrants give HML, GIG and NUK a worldwide royalty free perpetual licence to edit, publish and use all or segments of each entry in any and all media (including print and online) for publicity and news purposes relating to this competition and to the publicity and promotion of this competition in future years. In particular, all entrants license HML the right to publish their entry on HMC and in print. Where an image is used, the photographer will be credited. Publication of any entry does not necessarily mean that the entrant has won a prize and no consideration shall be due or payable, or compensation awarded, in the event of publication without any prize being awarded.

HML reserves the right at any time to cancel, modify or supersede the competition (including altering prizes) if, in their sole discretion, a competition is not capable for being conducted as specified. HML reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal value in the event that circumstances beyond their control make this unavoidable.
